Kefalonia / Cephalonia International Airport (EFL)
History, Facts and Overview
(Kefalonia, Greece)
Kefalonia's airport is fairly modern and only dates back to 1971, although the island's government had discussed plans for an airport many times previously. The next 30 years saw tremendous modernisation of the terminal, control tower, facilities and runway, which now measures around 2,450 metres / 8,040 feet in length. Further improvements of an ambitious nature are currently being planned.
Facilities at Kefalonia Island Airport are quite reasonable despite its size. Passengers can expect to find a small number of shops and duty-free stores, an information desk, travel agencies, telephones, a variety of restaurants and bars, and a post office.
Well-known car hire companies, such as Hertz and Europcar are represented in the terminal. Car parking facilities are composed of just over 100 spaces in total, all of which are conveniently sited close to the terminal.
